ICC Note:
The presiding judge over Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani’s case was ordered by the head of the judiciary to postpone the announcement of Youcef’s verdict for another year, meaning Youcef will remain in prison, Present Truth Ministries reports.
12/15/2011 Iran (Present Truth Ministries) – The Iranian judiciary has issued a perplexing decision in the case of Youcef Nadrkhani. They decided to keep him in prison for one more year in order to use whatever means necessary to cause him to convert to Islam. After one year we do not know what they will do. It is clear that they want Youcef’s case to slip away from international attention.
Youcef’s local attorney in Rasht was informed that the head of the judiciary, Ayatollah Sadegh Larijani, has ordered the presiding judge over the trial in Rasht, Mr. Ghazi Kashani to do nothing for one year. The order was to not issue a verdict and hold Youcef in prison. They were told to use whatever means necessary to cause him to recant and return to Islam.
Please remember, he is still under the death sentence from a 2010 ruling by the court in Rasht. This ruling was upheld by the Supreme Court in Qom in June 2011 asking the local court to re-examine whether Youcef practiced Islam after the age of majority (15 in Iran) and the time of his conversion to Christianity at the age of 19.
We ask that you would pray for this situation. Ask the Heavenly Father to work his perfect will for Youcef, provide for his family and working salvation in the lives of many in Iran.
