11/30/2011 Egypt (Al Masry Al Youm) – Coptic leaders in Alexandria estimate more than 70 percent of the Christian community in that governorate came out to vote in parliamentary elections Monday and Tuesday.
Nader Morcos of the Coptic Ecclesiastical Council in Alexandria described the turn out as unprecedented, saying previous years had seen less than 20 percent Coptic participation.
Joseph Malak, head of the Egyptian Center for Developing Studies and Human Rights, also noted the high turnout.
