Vahik Abrahamian, an Iranian Armenian Christian arrested in the city of Hamadan for evangelizing, was released from custody on August 29 after spending 359 days in prison, Mohabat News reports.

8/31/2011 Iran (Mohabat News) – Vahik Abrahamian, one of Iranian-Armenian Christians who was arrested in the city of Hamadan by security officers, was released from custody. It is said that judicial authorities have announced his accusations as spreading Christianity among Farsi-speaking Iranians and having relations with the foreign organizations.

According to reports received by the Iranian Christian News Agency “Mohabat News” Christian prisoner, Vahik Abrahamian, who was arrested by the security officers in the city of Hamadan (in west Iran, 337 KMs away from Tehran, the capital) eventually got released on Monday, August 29 after 359 days of detention and uncertainty in Hamadan’s prison.

On the evening of September 4, Vahik together with his wife Sonia and another Farsi-speaking Christian couple were arrested and transferred into the special detention center of intelligence ministry of the city of Hamadan.

According to the published reports on Friday September 10, a security person announced on the state-run TV that “a group of 9 were arrested in Hamadan and its suburbs on the charges of propagating Christianity “.

The government intelligence officers and the full cooperation of the public media, such as the Islamic Republic Television, which desire nothing less than the total destruction of the Christian church and communities in Iran, labeled these arrested individuals as “Zionist Christian Evangelists”!
