1/5/2011 Iran (Mohabat News) – Morteza Tamadon, provincial governor of Tehran, has said that several local Christian pastors have been arrested and more will be arrested in the coming days.

Iranian Christian News Agency, (Mohabat News), reports that based on information released on the official site of the Islamic Republic of Ira, IRNA, Mr. Tamadon, in speech delivered in Tehran on January 4, 2011, accused the Christian evangelicalism of being a “corrupt and deviant movement” that propagates their ideologies through cultural centers that operate in the UK.

He continued by saying that, “the leaders of this movement in Tehran have been trapped and apprehended and more arrests will come in the near future.” He resembled the evangelicals to the Taliban and the Wahabis in Islam and claimed that this movement, which has expanded its activities in Iran, is being supported and financed by the British government.

Based on reports published by the Iranian Christian News Agency, Mohabat News, with the arrival of Christmas and the New Year, the security forces of the Ministry of Information, in a series of coordinated and pre-planned sting operations, have already arrested and detained more than 60 new Christians in the capital city of Tehran and several other cities whose conditions and whereabouts are mostly unknown at this time.
