1/5/11 China (ChinaAid) – Christians in far northwest China’s region of Xinjiang who were
detained for five days over Christmas have hired a lawyer to file an administrative lawsuit
against the local police, ChinaAid has learned.
The Christians were detained by the Qitai County Public Security Bureau for holding a
Christmas service in their home.
Their Beijing lawyer, Li Dunyong, from the Beijing Gongxin Law Office, is already in Qitai,
where he is meeting with the victims and preparing for the suit.
The suit seeks: 1) dismissal of the order by the defendant to administratively detain the
plaintiffs on Dec. 12, 2010 and 2) that the defendant be responsible for all the legal fees
associated with the lawsuit.
