Religious leaders call for government action in Papua where cases of violence are up by 70% in the predominantly Christian region  

12/09/2010 Indonesia (UCANews) – Papuan religious leaders have urged the Indonesian government to deal with cases of violence after the National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) issued a report highlighting the worsening situation in the province.

Cases of violence in the predominantly Protestant province increased by 70 percent, majority of which are reportedly committed by security personnel, according to the commission.
