Religious riots: 110 arraigned in Minna

Muslim radical who carried out attacks against Christians in Northern Nigerian state of Niger were brought before a court on April 13. Muslim radicals have been attacking Christians in Northern Nigeria , where Muslim make up the majority of the population.

04/15/2009 Nigeria (Nigerian Tribune)-ONE hundred and ten suspects arrested for attacking Christians and burning three churches in Minna and Gwada towns in Niger State on Monday were yesterday arraigned before a Minna chief magistrates court.

Twelve among those arrested were from the 26 arrested in Minna, the Niger State capital, while the others were picked up for their alleged involvement in the Gwada town religious crisis.

In the crisis, three churches were vandalised in Gwada town with 20 people, mostly Christians, injured while five people were injured in the Minna attack and five cars damaged.

Nigerian Tribune learnt that the Christian Association of Nigeria in Gwada town had put the value of property destroyed at nearly N10 milion. According to Reverend Philips Danjuma, the hoodlums also vandalised many homes and made away with their valuable items.
