Sangh calls off Orissa bandh on Christmas as Advani intervenes

12/21/08 India (The Times of India) – The Sangh Parivar outfits had called off the bandh on Christmas day in protest against the killing of VHP leader Laxmananda Saraswathi following an intervention by Senior BJP leader L K Advani.

Advani had asked the saffron outfits to call off their day-long Orissa bandh on December 25 as he feels that the solution for the communal clash should be only through reconciliation and dialogue, a source close to the leader said on Sunday.

Orissa Chief Minister Navin Patnaik had also reportedly spoken to Advani, requesting him to intervene as a bandh would send a wrong message across the state and rest of the country, the source said… [Go To Full Story]
