Persecution Still Evident on Human Rights Day

Despite the provisions of the international human rights instruments, freedom of religion is routinely violated in many countries.
12/12/2008 United Nations (CWN)-The United Nations observed Human Rights Day this week, marking the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
The declaration’s article 18 declares, “Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion.”
It goes on to say, “We have the right to manifest our religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance.
