Pastor, Believer arrested in Karnataka

11/18/08 India (Evangelical Fellowship of India) – Police arrested a pastor and one believer on the basis of a complaint lodged by the Hindu extremists from Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (World Hindu Council) of forced conversion in Hosur Road, Bangalore, Karnataka.

According to EFI source, the extremists barged into the house- church worship meeting conducted by Pastor Sujnanamm, who is a student of Bhirian Baptist Bible College and his ministry is also supported by the Bible College.

The radicals beat up the pastor and dragged him to the police station where he was charged with forceful conversion.

The police filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the pastor and Dr. Advin S. Chilly, President of the Bhirian Baptist Bible College under Section 295A and 506 of the Indian Penal Code for malicious acts to outrage religious feelings and punishment for criminal intimidation respectively.

The Christians remain in Jail at press time.
