Serial bomb blasts target Christians in Relief Camps in Kandhamal

9/30/08 New Delhi (Evangelical Fellowship of India) – Hitavada Raipur edition reports: Serial Bomb blasts of low intensity rocked Relief Camps of Christians on Monday, September 29, 2008 in Kandhamal.

There was panic and chaos in the relief camp of Christians in Kandhamal when bombs exploded. The bombs, suspected to be hand-made and of low intensity, went off at Nuagaon, Mahasinghi village and Baliguda town at around 7, 8 and 9 pm respectively.

After the blast, the inmates ran in search of safety. “Since they have been successful in exploding bomb near the heavily guarded relief camp, there is no guarantee that the explosion will not take place in another camps,” said an inmate.

Since the bombs exploded at regular interval, the blasts seems to be a carefully orchestrated plan. Christians continue to suffer the ethnic cleansing at the hands of Sangh Parivar. When will the Government take necessary action to protect the lives of its harassed citizens. The Govt. at the centre and the state should take immediate action to stop this extreme violence against poor and hapless Christians.

In an another incident earlier on Sunday night police found the bodies of a Christian couple 5 k.m. away from each other. The body of 45 year old Priyatamma Digal was recovered from Badasalunki river at Bisipada village near Phulbani. Her husband Meghanath Digal’s body was also fished out from the river, reported Times of India. The couple was murdered on Thursday, September 25, 2008.

Evangelical Fellowship of India condemns the serial blasts in Relief Camps that are carried out to kill even the remaining suffering brothers and sisters who in the last one month have lost everything except their faith. We also request prayers for the Christians in Orissa who are repeatedly being targeted by these anti-social elements, that their faith would be bolstered in Lord Jesus Christ.
