Evangelist Beaten Up by Hindu Radicals in Karnataka, India

8/23/08 KARNATAKA, INDIA (ANS) – A Christian evangelist was beaten up by a group of Hindu radicals in Gadag in Karnataka state India on August 20.

According to a news issued by the website www.persecution.in, evangelist Nagaraj Yellappa Limbuji (27 years) was conducting his regular tuition and prayer for the village students in a village called Chikka Savananoor village.

At about 6.30 pm, a group consisting of 15 to 20 Hindu radicals came to the premises and started intimidating and beating him accusing of forceful conversion. The website reported that the pastor was then dragged to a near by temple and was tied to a pillar and a church believer in the village, after hearing about the incident informed the nearest Police station. The police, on arrival, took evangelist Nagaraj to the station for further enquiry.

The website explains that, Evangelist Nagaraj is in the ministry for the past 6 years and has about 125 believers in his congregation. He ministers in a church called Shalom Prayer Hall.
