Since Hamas came to power in Gaza , there has been an increased attack against Christians including murder of Rami Khader Ayyad who was kidnapped and killed by Islamic extremists who accused him of spreading Christianity in Gaza .

4. The body of a prominent Palestinian Christian was found stabbed and shot on a Gaza City street, last October. Rami Khader Ayyad, the 32-year-old director of Gaza’s only Christian bookstore, had been abducted by unknown assailants near his home late Saturday afternoon, 6 October, before his body was found the next morning with a gunshot wound to the head and numerous stab wounds. Two months ago, at least ten armed men, blew up a YMCA library in the Gaza Strip, destroying thousands of books. The assault was attributed to Muslim fundamentalists against Christian targets. Christian persecution has drastically increased since Hamas seized control of Gaza last year. On 7 April, News site, Israel Today, along with Christian sources confirmed that Fuad Nabil Ayyad, a Christian resident of Gaza City , was abducted days ago by Muslim assailants. Fuad is a relative of Rami Ayyad who was brutally executed last October by those believed to be Islamists intent on imposing strict religious law in the area. A Palestinian newspaper also reported last week Muslims in the Samarian town of Nablus had vandalized a local Christian cemetery, smashing many of the tombstones. (Sources: Israel Today/IHC)
