04/03/2008 Santa Ana, CA (ANS) — A simple Email to your U.S. Representative can help stop the torture and execution of thousands of North Korean refugees, many of whom are Christians.
The goal of Open Doors USA is to get as many Congressional signatures as possible on a letter to Chinese President Hu Jintao. The letter is a plea to President Hu Jintao to stop repatriating North Korean refugees back to North Korea, and ultimately the prison camps and possible execution that await them upon their return.
This egregious persecution is inhumane and completely unnecessary. Humanitarian agencies like the United Nations Refugee Agency are ready and willing to remove these refugees from China and relocate them to countries that have promised resettlement.
But first we must get President Hu Jintao’s attention and encourage him to consider his alternatives. A letter bearing a long list of Congressional signatures could go a long way towards persuading him to do so.
