Massive roundup to start in Khartoum soon
There are thousands of refugees in Sudan from countries such as Eritrea where there is egregious violation of freedom of religion. We hope the Sudanese government will not repatriate the Eritreans back to their country where they face torture and other abuses.
Tuesday, 29 January 2008 Sudan (asena)-The Sudanese government has openly been threatening for the massive roundup due to start in the first week of February 2008, targeting at expatriates and refugees alike, according to a number of daily Arabic newspapers reports.
Shocked and panicked, Eritrean refugees in Khartoum are desperately hoping for the best while preparing themselves for the worst.
If the Sudanese government decided to force the refugees back to the so-called refugee camps, or even expel them back to their native countries, it will be a mistake that will live forever in history books. Said a western diplomat, who declined his name to be mentioned.
