Pastor de-humanized and church desecrated in Karnataka
12/19/07 India (EFI News) – A group of Hindu activists de-humanized Pastor John Samuel of the Assemblies of God church in Virajpet about 300 kms from Bangalore, Karnataka on December 9.
According to reports, Pastor Samuel had gone to the house of a Christian believer, Gangamma, for the purpose of prayer. As they were praying, a group of Hindu activists led by Mr K.M.Girish forcefully entered the house. They snatched the Pastor’s Bible away and started beating the pastor brutally.
Later the activists took the pastor to the police station and filed a false F.I.R. (First Information Report) accusing him on false charges of conversion. The pastor was denied medical assistance in spite of his physical condition.
When the Evangelical Fellowship of India contacted the Virajpet Police Station, the police feigned ignorance of the case and refused to disclose any information.
Please pray that the Hindu activists will be brought to justice and that the Pastor will recover from his injuries soon.
Church desecrated in Gurdahali, Karnataka
In another incident in Karnataka, a group of about 20 Hindu activists desecrated the St. Anthony’s Church at Gurdahali, near the Mysore road flyover in Bangalore, Karnataka on December 16.
This incident took place during the Sunday worship service. The activists forcibly entered the church and disrupted the prayer service. They assaulted the worshippers and also spoilt the church property. A case has been registered at the Byatarayanapura police station. Till now, no arrests have been made.
Pray that the police will be able to find and arrest the accused and that the Church will be able to repair the damaged property.
