Indian Church Members Repeatedly Beaten Up In Chhattisgarh

11/7/07 INDIA (ANS) — Hindu fundamentalists thrashed 13 believers, during a prayer service on Friday, November 2, in Timnar Village, Narayanpur district, Chhattisgarh, India.

The radical elements not only attacked the worshippers but also indulged in looting and robbed them of their watches, purses and food items such as rice and wheat.

According to www.persecution.in, six women and seven men were injured in the attack.

The believers reached Narayanpur police station to register a complaint, but it is reported that the police refused to entertain any grievance

On Sunday, November 4, the radicals again attacked the believers and damaged their bicycles and other belongings.

Once again, it is reported that the police again refused to register a case against the perpetrators of the crime. The police informed the believers, however, that they will ask the Hindu fundamentalists to stop the atrocities.

It is learned that the Superintendent of Police of Narayanpur has been informed about the incident and he is visiting the village to find solution for the problem.
