Church Burnt Down In Night Attack
5/12/07 Sri Lanka (NCEASL) The Prayer Tower Church, Karawilawelpitiya, Nalladarankattuwa, Puttlam District was burnt down during the night.
The Church was set on fire by unknown persons during the early hours the morning. It was a modest building made of wooden plank walls and a thatched (pol athu) roof which made it easy for the fire to spread, destroying it completely. The pulpit, carpets, drapes and banners which were within the Church were reduced to ashes. A complaint has been made at the Chilaw Police. Entry number 95181 / CIB.
The Police have visited the site for investigation. There is no information as to the perpetrators.
The congregation of this small Church is shaken by this incident.
