Persecution Report from Rajasthan

Global Council of Indian Christians

3/25/07 India (Persecution Update India) – Pastor Mangilal Moosa, who came out from the prison from Udaipur (Rajasthan) found that Pastor Gorthan Leetha and his son Laxman Gorthan, from Dala Village, Udaipur (Rajasthan) and Pastor Khana Gutta and his son Ramesh Gutta from Amlia Village, Udaipur (Rajasthan) are missing. About 3 to 4 months back the decoits (Robbers) came to the village and robbed everything they could, beating the villagers and 4 persons were killed. About 30 Christian families live in this village. They are poor people and mainly they are agricultural laborers.

Our pastors were charged as Murderers and gang robbers and arrested, beaten, and their families were charged. They were kept in police custody and then moved to Central Jail in Udaipur , where Pastor Mangilal was kept. The poor Christians were beaten, threatened and children and families have to run away from these villages to different places. Now, they are in the jail for the last 2 months. Those families, pastors and some of the believers are left without food. They need your help and sincere prayers.

In the Court case Pastor Nathaniel and Dr. Samuel Thomas got permanent bail instead of extending in every two months. The case of Dr. Samuel Thomas’s permission for visiting his family is postponed on 26th March in the High Court. The cases against the Societies are also to be discussed on 26th March.
