Global Council of Indian Christians

3/11/07 India (Persecution Update India ) – Three Christian Pastors of the Church of Nazarene in Nagpur were beaten up on February 8th by radical elements as they were screening a “Jesus” Film.

Rev. Ravi Shambhakar, Mr. Ramprakash Sahu and Mr. Satputeed were severely injured and some of their teeth were broken in the thrashing.

The equipment of the Christians was also damaged. Mr. Satpute was brutally beaten and lost five teeth in the attack. He was later taken to the hospital. The costly equipment was also taken away (robbed) by the Fundamentalists.

The police did not register a complaint as they accused the Christians of wrongdoing.

This angered the local Christians who protested against the high-handedness of the administration.

This protest made the senior police intervene and a complaint was registered and the PSI was suspended for sometime.

None of the equipment has been recovered.

The date for a hearing has been set for the 13th March.
