Iranian Reform Movement in Upbeat Mood as Ahmadinejad Suffers Political Setback

(ICC) Iran ’s largest reform party said that the party of Iran ’s president had suffered a “decisive defeat” in last weeks nationwide elections.

Iran ’s Ahmadinejad is seen as much more radical and conservative that the bulk of the country and it seems the electorate voted with their feet. Whether it is a positive step going forward for the countries’ Christians remains to be seen.
Much of the backlash against the president came from conservative voters as well as reformist elements so it remains to be seen whether this is a bellwether for greater changes.
It is probably too soon to celebrate considering the arrests of the 14 Muslim converts to Christianity last week.
