Missionaries Arrested In Gujarat

Evangelical Fellowship of India (09/22/06) – Missionaries of The Indian Missionary Society were attacked by a group of people in Divya village near Bari in the state of Gujarat on September 20, 2006. The missionaries, who included Rev. A. Arul Daniel, his wife, Mrs. Jasmine, two other evangelists and their families had gone to the village to conduct a special thanksgiving prayer meeting in a believer’s house upon invitation. Two women missionaries were also attacked and many of the group’s belongings taken away as they were about to head home after the meeting.

After the attackers fled the scene, they lodged an F.I.R. against the missionaries, falsely accusing the Christians of having used weapons and having assaulted them. Due to this, six missionaries are now arrested and will be shown before the magistrate tomorrow.

Pray for strength and comfort for the arrested missionaries and that justice would be done in this case. Pray especially that they would be released as soon as possible.
