ICC note– Violence against Christians continue to be carried out by Hindu extremist groups in the once peaceful state of Andhra Pradesh.

Andhra Christians are helpless victims of fascist forces

(AICC) 7/12/2006- The tiny Christian community in Andhra Pradesh continue to be victims of terrorist elements. In fact, the violence against Christians in various places in Andhra Pradesh has exceeded only by the violence against the Christian community in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujarat, where fascist groups like the Sangh Parivar thrive.

Andhra Pradesh, which was once a peaceful state, has now become an active laboratory of Hindutva. Recent months have seen the cold-blooded murder of five pastors, (Daniel and Isaac Raju – Hyderabad, Sydney David – Laxetpet, Yesudas – Siddipet, Prem Kumar – Nizamabad), attacks on various churches, vandalisation of the Bible and other religious objects, stepped up campaign against Christian nurses and nuns in hospitals and increased religious policing portend unpleasant times for the Christian community who are involved in education and medicare.

In the last three months, Andhra Pradesh has also witnessed several attacks by Bajrang Dal and other Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) affiliates on hospitals accusing Christian nurses of proselytation. Now it appears the Hindu fundamentalists have turned their ire on jails where Christian missionaries regularly carry their charitable activities…. [Go to Full Story]
