ICC note– Hindu Fundamentalists in India have been successful in launching a wave of anti-conversion laws to curb the freedom of Christian evangelization and to instill fear in the hearts of people.

Anti-conversion bill in Chhattisgarh

AICC 5/30/2006- The Government of Chhattisgarh, run by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has declared its intention to approve a law “penalizing those who change their faith without informing the authorities.” If the bill is approved, Chhattisgarh will be the eighth state in India to have such a law. Whoever converts without informing the authorities, or converts another, risks steep fines and five years in prison. [Go to Full Story]
