ICC (03/29/06) – ICC has received breaking news that Abdul Rahman, the Afghani man who converted to Christianity and was facing the death penalty, has ascaped his country and is headed for asylum in Italy.

This news comes just after hearing that the Afghanistan parliament voted to keep him in the country and continue his trial.

Unfortunately, this is merely a short-term solution to the fundamental problem with Afghanistan ’s interpretation of Islamic law. While we can celebrate the rescue of a courageous Christian, Afghanistan remains unchanged in its lack of respect for human rights.

Rahman is scheduled to reach Italy later today.
