Sudan Government Threatens to Kill Christian Lawyer fighting for Religious Freedom

 The world watches as Sudan prepares its new constitution, a process and document which Khartoum hopes will generate some measure of international credibility which the pariah state now abjectly lacks. A Christian lawyer who has promote religious freedom, and has been training Christians in who to assert religious freedom, has fled after his life was threatened by Sundanese government agents.

Syria's Christians once lived in the town of Raqqa as an equal component of a muti-religious, multi-cutural community in Assad's Syria. With the recent capture of the town by American and Western-supported rebels, that has all changed. The Churches have been burned and its of the Christians have been killed or fled. The iron curtain of Sharia rule now divides the town from its former freedom.

The Boko Haram Islamists are waging a campaign of religious cleansing in Northern Nigeria in an effort to establish Sharia rule. Christians and non-Muslims have suffered severe persecution as a result. A recent military offensive held hopes of relief for the besieged civilians in the rebel areas, but this assault appears to have been a major effort by the Islamist to counter the gains of the military and regain the initiative. Yobe state is majority Muslim, but there is a notable Christian minority that has been specifically targeted for attack by Islamist.

ICC has continued to cover the increasing oppression of Nigerian Christians in Muslim-majority states through the formal operation of government. Twelve of Nigeria's states have adopted sharia rule; but only recently has it become more aggressively enforced against Christians in those areas. In Kano state, all citizens are now required to adhere to an Islamic dress code or face severe fines and imprisonment.

This latest attack is just one of several terrorist operations reported since early last week in Nigeria. The death toll form last week may now be in excess of 100 persons killed and many more wounded by Muslim militants seeking to establish an Islamic state under Sharia rule.
