Designer/Communications Manager

Duties and Responsibilities:

Newsletter Management: Production of a monthly print/online newsletter

• Write (as well as assign to others)/Edit well written, emotionally impacting articles.
• Design, layout, and provide general oversight of production from concept to print.

Graphics/Layout:

• Produce stunning newsletters and other print/digital pieces.
• Handle various projects (newsletter/postcards/brochures/reports, etc.) from start to
  completion.
• Liaise with printer.

Social Media

• Build awareness/burden/community via our Facebook (160,000 users) and Twitter (7500 followers) communities via daily postings of content.
• Post items/respond to commenters/forum community.
• Understand how to build community via social media.

Writing/Copywriting/Editing:

• Excellent writing and editing skills needed on a daily basis as you will write some of your own pieces and edit many staff pieces for our communication channels (newsletter/blogs/donation appeals/press releases/social media).

Web Manager:

• Write and manage input of web content through a modified WordPress content management system.

Video Production: (not mandatory but a strong plus)

• Create short (2-5 minutes) emotionally impacting short pieces or manage outsourcing of same.

Experience/Skills:

• Graphics/Layout:
  • Preference for (not mandatory) a Four-year degree in graphics design.
  • Preference for 3-5 years practical experience including newsletters, brochures, flyers, ads, web, etc.
  • Solid artistic skills with a great eye for layout, type and color.
  • Can montage photos attractively with various effects.
  • Should have a talent for creating unique and practical design elements that are effective from a marketing standpoint.
  • Understands how to create web-based content and design.
• Web:
  • 2+ years’ experience with general web design and an understanding of and experience with WordPress
  • Basic HTML and/or CSS.
• Writing/Editing:
  • Can organize complex and chaotic source materials into simpler, integrated, coherent printed pieces that have strong emotional impact.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Experience/understanding of Press Release writing a plus.
• Software:
  • Strong familiarity and experience with: InDesign, Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Dreamweaver, WordPress, Constant Contact, Basic HTML and/or CSS, File Transfer Protocol (FTP).
• Additional:
  • Strong preference for Christian witness and history.
  • Multimedia/video editing/production a plus.
  • Copywriting experience a plus.
  • United States resident with U.S. citizenship or work visa is required.

Salary and Benefits:

• Salary will be between $30,000 to $45,000 depending on experience with benefits depending upon education and experience of candidate.
• Group hospitalization and dental benefits plan after the initial three calendar months of employment.
• Generous vacation, sick leave, and holiday schedule.
