“Incline Thine ear to me, O LORD, and answer me; for I am afflicted and needy.” Psalm 86:1 |

| A girl crying out for the Lord’s help. |
I found it impossible to get more than one hour of sleep due to the
oppressive heat and rancid odors. For me it was only a night. For them, who
knows how long they will have to live like this.
Disease is rampant in this area of Sudan. There are no other organizations going
to these areas to help. We took whatever aid they would receive. It left us
absolutely heartbroken knowing that no one else will come to their aid. If we
only had more.
We also learned about the famine now hitting some parts of Sudan, including the
area we visited. From my observation, unless immediate aid is delivered, a lot
of the people we saw will not survive the next 3-6 months.
I also interviewed several former prisoners of the GOS. They explained how they
were forced into a shipping container with so many other people they were unable
to move even their arms. These containers of steel resemble railroad cars. The
people in them would be left for up to a week without food, water or the ability
to relieve themselves. The doors were locked! Daytime temperatures easily exceed
110º Fahrenheit, but inside the container temperatures can easily exceed 160°
Farenheit. They told me that many times people would die in these containers and
you would be stuck against them for days. Occasionally they were let out only to
be tied or suspended from trees or ceilings to be horribly tortured and returned
to the containers. There were only a few survivors of this treatment. I
personally met with one and saw over two dozen scars on his body as evidence of
the treatment he received.
When a country is at war innocent people suffer horrible things. However, this
is usually at the hands of an enemy country. In Sudan innocent people are
suffering at the hands of their own government.
When will this stop? At one point in history did mankind not declare “never
again?” The holocaust of WW2 is happening again, this time on the African
continent. Where are the people who cried “never again?” Where is the black
community in all of this? Is discrimination only an American problem that needs
to be eradicated? The silence is deafening.
ICC is planning its next trip later this year into Sudan. We need your help.
Without you, these people will most certainly die in their misery. You can also
help shatter the silence by raising your voice on behalf of the suffering
Christians in southern Sudan by writing or calling your elected representatives
in Washington.
