In this very interesting report Fox News explores the possibility that Christian films may face ever greater challenges in obtaining backing and release by major Hollywood production companies as the Chinese market for films becomes a major factor in movie production. The Chinese government strictly censors the content of films before they can be released in China and at least one experienced producer says that Chinese authorities dislike movies with a strong Christian theme. The report is all the more reason to continue working towards the end of persecution in China and greater religious freedoms for its 1.3 billion citizens.

A petition demanding a ban on the teaching of intelligent design and creation science across the U.S. public school system is currently gathering signatures before submission to the White House. The petition is one of the latest developments in an ongoing clash between many of the beliefs and values held by the majority of Christians in the United States and various groups determined to see those beliefs and values eradicated from the public sphere.

Nine civilians were killed in an attack waged against a state-sponsored school in northern Nigeria by Boko Haram militants yesterday. Nigeria continues to battle Boko Haram, a radical Islamic sect that has waged a four-year insurgency against the Nigerian state in hopes to establish a separate Islamic state, as the group has increased its violent presence in recent weeks. Perpetrating numerous gruesome attacks against innocents, especially Christians in northern Nigeria, the nine murders committed Tuesday add to the sect's growing list of committed acts of terror, including the burning of numerous churches and the brutal slaying of Nigerian pastors.

As punishment for his goats crossing onto the village landlord's pasture, a Christian farmer's three daughters were viciously beaten and made to wander the streets naked at the beckoning of armed Muslims bent on publicly humiliating the family for its faith. But one event of an ongoing trend of sectarian violence being waged against Christians in Pakistan, the world looks on as the reelected ruling regime continues to neglect gross human rights violations committed against the nation's Christian minorities.

The minister said "couldn't continue in the role of tourism minister" after the appointment of Adel al-Khayat. Clashes have erupted in several cities in Egypt regarding Morsi’s appointments, seven of which are members of the Muslim Brotherhood. Approximately 26 people have been injured so far.

Russian Ministries reports that scores of Muslims in Russia are converting to Christianity. “Revival is taking place one heart at a time in these post-Soviet republics where ethnic people are historically tied to Islam. God is working, revealing Himself through visions and dreams, as well His Word.” While there have not been many reports of persecution of these believers, one wonders if that may begin as they “come out” with their new faith. If history is any indication, that is a definite possibility.

Twenty Congressmen have urged Secretary of State John Kerry to put pressure on the Romanian government to return church property and end “persecution”. When Romania was under communist rule, the government “confiscated 2,140 schools, hospitals, orphanages and other charitable and civic institutions from the Roman Catholic, Hungarian Reformed, Evangelical Lutheran, and Unitarian churches, as well as 1,980 Jewish communal properties, as well as all properties, including church buildings themselves, from the Greek Catholic Church that it summarily banned.” The letter demands that “illegally confiscated religious institutions be immediately returned in a fair and equitable manner.”

A recent spate of house church closings in the Southern province of Hainan has revealed just how much power Chinese authorities have to close unofficial and therefore illegal house churches at a moments notice. While many Christians in China report that conditions have improved greatly over the past few years, the Chinese government still attempts to exert a high level of control over the growth and spread of Christianity. Pastors who refuse to close their churches, especially in more rural areas, are subject to arrest and several reports confirm that many underground Christians are regularly sentenced to time in "Re-education through Labor Camps."

Yesterday, Rep. Frank Wolf, a congressman who is long-time supporter of religious freedom and human rights, delivered remarks at the Wilson Center event on Religious minorities in the Middle East. His remarks include the following, “America has always been a friend to the oppressed, the persecuted, the forgotten. But sadly today, that allegiance is in question as religious freedom and human rights abuses around the globe increasingly go unaddressed and unanswered.

In an extra-ordinary act of bravery a prisoner of the Masanjia Labor Camp on Northeast China smuggled a letter asking for help and describing conditions in the camp into Halloween products that were subsequently exported to the U.S. where the letter was discovered last year. The author of the letter revealed that about half of the prisoners were either members of the Falun Gong movement or Christians from underground churches. This information corroborates accounts revceived from ICC that despite an decrease in the amount of prominent, violent incidents of persecution in China over the past several years Christians in more rural areas continue to be detained and sentenced to Re-education through Labor for refusing to attend the government controlled Three-Self Church.

It’s a win for Islamists as the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) won 60% of the vote in all the cities holding municipal elections. This comes on the heels of the strikes sponsored by Jamaat-e-Islami (Islamic Party) and Hefajat-e-Islam ("Protector of Islam") that resulted in violence, bloodshed and death. Persecution of Christians is on the rise in Bangladesh.

Life in Egypt is tumultuous to say the least. One Christian leader says, “It seems that President Morsi has simply put Egypt on the edge of a volcano that may erupt at any moment.” However, despite the crackdown on Christians and the increase of persecution, it seems that a move of God is occurring—a light in the midst of great darkness.

On Wednesday, Hungary expelled the vice-president of the World Uyghur Congress (WUC) on "terrorism charges" in a move that many suspect is an act of Christian persecution. The Uyghur people are an ethnic group that live in China and Central Asia. Umit Hamit Agahi, a German citizen, and the one kicked out of the country on “terrorism” charges says that "Only China calls the WUC a terrorist organization." China is notorious for going to great lengths to suppress and end the influence of Christians and Christianity in its borders. The question now is: Does China have Hungary under its thumb?

Read the full report that explores whether or not there is an increase of violence against Christian woman in Muslim countries. You will find that un-equivocally, yes—the combination of being both a woman and a Christian in Muslim countries results in greater violence and even death. An excerpt: “Because Christians are perceived as undesirable minorities in Muslim countries, they are subject to extreme persecution, repression and violence. As we will see, all women are traditionally treated as second-class citizens under Islam. However, Christian females arein even worse straits than Muslims, because they are the weakest members of an “infidel,” outcast population. Whatever abuses Muslim women and girls may suffer –and their wounds are many – Christian females’ sufferings are exponentially more intense and life-threatening.”

As one of the five remaining Communist nations on earth, Laos continues to impose undue restrictions on religious freedom. While the national government claims to allow Christians to worship freely, many provincial and village level officials continue to harass and threaten Christians. Recently families in two villages in Laos have been asked to leave and resettle elsewhere after converting to Christianity. Families who refuse to move are sometimes ostracized by the community and may face further harassment by the authorities.

It’s another eviction order for New Life Church. This is nothing new to them as they’ve been struggling since 2002 to keep their building. “Minsk officials – backed by the national government - have blocked New Life's every effort to use its building in line with Belarusian law, thereby stripping the church's rights to the property.” When will the government observe this group of believer’s right to religious freedom?

As President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's second term as President of Iran comes to a close the people of Iran are heading to the polls to vote. A country known for persecution of Christians, many believers are not holding out hope that a new president will change anything after, what is seen by many, as an election that is neither free nor fair. "Christians think nothing will change for them," said a spokesperson for Open Doors International, a global organisation which supports Christians under pressure for their faith. "They see all candidates as very much the same."

Well, the year of silence is over; raids and fines against Christians have once again started in Belarus. Recently two Baptist churches were raided for meeting without state approval and three local leaders have been fined. This leaves many wondering if this is a one-time thing, or if persecution of Christians is on the rise.
