The mass exodus of Christians from the Muslim world

A mass exodus of Christians is fleeing the Islamic world, writes Raymond Ibrahim for Fox News. “The flight of Christians out of the region is unprecedented and it’s increasing year by year,” The U.S. Commission for International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) wrote in its annual report. More than half the Christian population has fled Iraq since the outbreak of war in 2003 while a similar exodus is beginning in Egypt and is expected to occur in Syria’s near future.

 In one year, Mali went from unranked on Open Door's list of the top fifty worst persecutors of Christians to number 7. The collapse of the government and the takeover of Islamic extremists is the reason for this drastic change. When the extremists took over, Christians living in northern Mali were driven south by increased persecution. As the Islamists pushed south, many Christians feared having to leave Mali to survive. Several weeks ago, France decided to intervene in the conflict and has since pushed back the extremists. Many Christians are praising the French for their recent military success.
