Religious Atmosphere: This country has a large (55%) Orthodox population with small (<1%) populations of Protestant and Catholics. There is also a sizeable population of non-religious individuals (32.7%) and Muslims (8.7%). The Orthodox Church in conjunction with the Russian government seems to be the primary source of persecution here as new laws and underhanded political/legal tactics have been employed to purge Russia of "unwanted" foreign religious groups.
