News sources report that Ugandan police have arrested a Christian evangelist after a Muslim accused him of kidnapping his daughter. The girl claims that her family abused her after she converted to Christianity so she sought refuge from the evangelist. The girl’s father is very upset and has reportedly stirred up Muslims against the evangelist for converting Muslims to Christianity.
3/02/2017 Uganda (Morning Star News) – Police in eastern Uganda on Sunday (Feb. 26) arrested an evangelist after a Muslim accused him of kidnapping his adult daughter, who had taken refuge with the Christian after leaving Islam, sources said.
In an effort to defame Hassan Muwanguzi and stir up Islamist sentiment against him, Nghangha Mubakali accused him of kidnapping and making a human sacrifice of his daughter, Muwanguzi told Morning Star News by phone from his jail cell. He said Namusisi Budadu Biryeri, 21, had taken refuge with him after her father beat her for putting her faith in Christ in 2015.
“I brought Namusisi into my house after receiving messages that she was badly beaten, and that she needed support due to her newly founded faith in Christ,” said Muwanguzi, a lay leader with the Church of Uganda. “But now I am falsely charged and being threatened by many Muslims who want to kill me because of the message that has gone all over that I am kidnapping and sacrificing people’s lives in the name of converting them to Christianity.”
