U.S. Calls on Sri Lanka to Protect Christians from Attack

The United States has called for an end to impunity over attacks on Christian churches in Sri Lanka following an attack on 2 evangelical churches last weekend. The U.S. ambassador to Sri Lanka met with the National Christian Evangelical Alliance on Monday, January 21, to discuss recent attacks on Christians and their places of worship. Following the meeting the embassy released a tweet on their official twitter account calling on Sri Lanka to protect Christians from attacks.
1/21/2014 Sri Lanka (Colombo Page) – The United States has called for an end to impunity over attacks on the Christian evangelical churches in Sri Lanka.
The US Ambassador to Sri Lanka Michele Sison has met the National Christian Evangelical Alliance today and discussed the recent attacks on two Christian prayer centers in Hikkaduwa.
Following the meeting the US Embassy in a Twitter message said the Ambassador “calls for end of impunity in attacks on places of worship in Sri Lanka.”
A monks-led mob attacked the Calvary Free Church and Assembly of God Church in Hikkaduwa on January 12 and damaged the property while threatening the residents.
