Christians and Muslims Pray for Peace in Nigeria

The security crisis in Nigeria has been raging since the Islamic terrorist group Boko Haram began its insurgency in 2009. Bent on establishing a separate Islamic state in Nigeria’s northern states, Boko Haram has perpetrated numerous acts of violence against Christians, moderate Muslims and government institutions. With no where else to turn, Christian and Muslim communities in Nigeria are turning to God to answer their prayer for peace.
1/10/2014 Nigeria (AllAfrica) – Hundreds of Muslims and Christians yesterday in Borogo, Bauchi State, held a special prayer session for peaceful co-existence in the country.
Coordinator of the session, a female law maker, Mrs Rifkatu Samson Danna, said its aim was to seek Allah’s blessings and protection for Nigeria and its people wherever they are.She commended the participants for uniting to pray for the country.
The Chief Imam of Bogoro Central Mosque, Suleiman Shekarau and the Chairman, Christian Association (CAN) in Bogoro, Reverend Joshua Yakubu Tukur, said prayer is the only solution left to solve the socio-economic challenges in the country, saying they would continue to pray for the peaceful co-existence in the country.
Reverend Tukur prayed to God to dismantle forces of darkness working against peace, unity and development of Nigeria, and advised Nigerians to embrace one another in love and work for peace of the nation. He cautioned politicians to refrain from overheating the nation’s polity, saying the current political situation portends danger.
