A Village Spiritual Chief Priest Turns to Christ

A priest, who was the Spiritual Chief Priest for four different villages, came to Christ as a result of the work of ICC Missionaries. The priest was very honored among the people and was often called upon to come to homes for rituals and sacrifices to spirits.  Despite his power, he himself was possessed and tortured by evil spirits. He didn’t like it and attempted many times to make the spirits leave him, but even sacrificing water buffalos and cows to these spirits did not deliver him.  ICC missionaries fasted and prayed for him for a week. When the Lord guided them to share the Gospel with him, he responded and asked them to pray for him. As they prayed for him, “he was stuck to the ground as dead man and the villagers thought this man was dead and the preachers would be in trouble.”  The missionaries, however, did not fear and continued to pray for 45 minutes; rebuking evil spirits and worshiping the Lord. The evil spirits left the priest and “the whole family was surprised of the deliverance.  The thing [the Spiritual Chief Priest] was not able to do with [with the evil] spirits was done with God.  They all realized that Jesus Christ has power over the demons.” The former Spiritual Chief Priest is now a follower of Jesus, has been worshiping the Lord for several weeks now. The ICC missionaries are hoping that he will soon testify in his four villages that Jesus Christ set him free, even though he used to worship evil spirits.

Please praise God for this amazing testimony! Please also pray on behalf of these missionaries as they walk great distances in the sun, over dangerous terrain. They are constantly exposed to poisonous snakes and have all suffered continuously with malaria, typhoid and jaundice. They say they go “where only God can protect them,” and that He is their only source of energy and strength.  They say, “Our aim is to plant 5000 churches by the end of 2020 in the [an undisclosed region.]  We believe in the power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and it is still powerful to save people from darkness.”
