Bajranga Dal Activists Forcibly Stop Sunday Worship in Karnataka
ICC Note:
This case involved 20 activists who barged into a church, cursed at the believers, and then accused them of things they didn’t do. The Pastor stopped the service before things got even more out of hand and reported the incident to the police, who at least seem to be responding.
07/02/2012 India (CPUI)- Pastor Kantharaj Hanumanthappa was conducting his Sunday Worship Service in his House Church, Zion Prarthana Mandira, located at Vijayapura about 50 kms away from Chitradurga in Karnataka on Sunday, 1st july 2012 when about 20 Bajaranga Dal activists under the leadership of one Rangappa Fakheerappa barged into the church at about 11 am and forced them to stop their worship service. They abused them using obscene and foul language, calling them names and alleging that they are involved in forcibly and fraudulently converting Hindus to Christianity. Pastor Kantharaj stopped the prayer service and avoided any untoward incident and then along with a few believers went to the Burmasagar Police Station and lodged a complaint against the culprits to the Police Sub Inspector Chetan . The police under the direction of the Chitradurga SP Nagaraj are conducting an inquiry into the incident.
