Update on Asia Bibi, a Christian mother of five, sentenced to death for blasphemy in Pakistan

“Asia Bibi, a Christian mother of five, sentenced to death on accusation of blasphemy… is scared in her high security jail cell,” the Pakistan Christian Post reports.

4/24/2012 Pakistan (Pakistan Christian Post) – “Asia Bibi, a Christian mother of five, sentenced to death on accusation of blasphemy, waiting for her appeal in Lahore High court against death sentence in Seikhupura District jail in Punjab province of Pakistan, is scared in her high security jail cell” told Zeba Gill, President of PCA to Pakistan Christian in an exclusive interview.

Zeba Gill, President of Pakistani Christians Association in USA with its headquarters in New York, was visiting Pakistan in month of March 2012, where she met Asia Bibi in Seikhpupura District jail.

There have been frequent attempts by Pakistani Christian leaders and foreign delegates to visit Asia Bibi in jail but none was permitted to meet her by Home Secretary of Government of Punjab after assassination of Governor Punjab Salman Taseer who was gunned down by his police bodyguard in Islamabad on January 4, 2011, on allegations of visiting a blasphemer Asia Bibi.
