Pakistani Girl Begs Court To Stop Forced Conversion And Marriage

Every year, close to 300 Christian and Hindu girls are kidnapped and forced to convert to Islam in Pakistan. Pakistan must address this growing persecution of religious minorities.

03/28/2012 Pakistan (Catholic Culture)-A 19-year-old Pakistani woman has appealed to the country’s Supreme Court for help, saying that she has been kidnapped, pressured into marriage, and is being forced to convert to Islam.

Rinkel Kumari, who is a Hindu, begged the court not to return her to an Islamic school where she has been detained. “Kill me here, now, in court. But do not send me back,” she pleaded. The young woman’s family said that she had been abducted by a politically powerful Muslim, and that local police had forced him to leave town after he reported the kidnapping.
