Lift Up Our Brothers and Sisters in Cyprus

Lift up our brothers and sisters in the small country of Cyprus. Turkey illegally occupies the northern part of the country, the area where a majority of the persecution occurs. Under this Turkish occupation, Christians have reportedly been harassed and discriminated against. Christians have to gain Turkish approval to hold worship services. There have also been reports of the destruction of various church buildings. Pray for Christians in Cyprus, particularly those in the northern part of the island.

What a load of rubbish. I thought it was a sin to lie!!!

You need to take the beam of wood out of your eyes and visit the North of Cyprus to see the truth.

You do Know that the South Cyprus Government is Communist!!

There is no persecution of Christians and no restrictions on worship at all.

This article is a piece of blatant propaganda, almost certainly initiated by a Greek Cypriot using his professed Christianity as a device to gain unwarranted sympathy from western sympathisers.  Do not waste your money by donating to a non existent cause; you should rather invest in a trip to both halves of Cyprus to investigate the truth for yourselves.  In the Muslim North there is true religious tolerance, in the South, Orthodox priests preach intolerance - even I would suggest - hatred towards Muslims.  In the South mosques have been bulldozed out of existence.  In the North there have been significant efforts to restore and maintain churches that have inevitably deteriorated through lack of use.  These efforts have in one particular case been frustrated by the Orthodox Archbishop who openly declared that he would rather see this important building fall down rather than be maintained by ‘Turks’.  When the Anglican Church in Kyrenia needed a major overhaul, much of the work was made possible by significant contributions of money, materials and voluntary skill sets from Muslim Turkish Cypriots.  Turkey’s intervention in Cyprus in 1974 came about because Christian Greeks Cypriots were determined to eliminate the Turkish Cypriot population through acts of genocide.  The Cypriot constitution required Britain, Greece and Turkey to act as guarantee powers to maintain the status quo and the peace.  Turkey was the only guarantor to honour its responsibilities.  Do not be taken in by propaganda.

ICC is constantly monitoring the state of Christian persecution in countries around the world and looking for ways that we can act as bridge between our supporters and the persecuted church. Beyond the projects you see above, we are working in many other areas to provide practical assistance to our brothers and sisters in Christ.
