Orissa Orphanage: Ashalatha

Ashalatha's family fled into the forest after her father was badly beaten by Hindu radicals in Orissa, India in 2008. Malnutrition and a lack of medical attention eventually claimed her father's life, leaving her mother destitute.

Ashalatha is one of the 15 children we're caring for in our India orphanage who lost one or both of their family members in the Orissa attacks in 2008.
