Christian Film Stopped by Threats from Teens

Christian Film Stopped by Threats from Teens

Gospel for Asia
08/03/09 SOUTH ASIA (ANS) -- A recent film screening was stopped when a group of intoxicated teenagers threatened to physically assault the missionaries holding the event.

The village in which the film was being shown has more than 100 houses, but not a single Christian. The people are known for having an anti-Christian sentiment, especially among their youth, and missionaries are generally not allowed to visit. However, the village chief gave Gospel for Asia-supported missionaries Badal Ahuja and Caleb Saini permission to show a film about the life of Jesus Christ.

The Gospel workers translated the dialog into the local language, and drew a crowd of approximately 300 people. The response was positive, according to a field correspondent, until the teenagers arrived drunk and ready for a fight.

"They told our missionaries to stop the film or they would beat them up," he reported. "They then told the brothers that if they had any film other than a Christian film, they would allow them to show it."

With their safety in question, and no way to peacefully continue the event, the brothers packed up their equipment and left the village.

Please pray that the little bit of the film that was shown will spark an interest for Jesus among the villagers and that they will choose to follow Him. Pray for protection and wisdom for Badal and Caleb as they continue to minister in this area, and that missionaries will be welcomed into this particular village again.
