Hindu Fanatics Attacked a Pastor from Hyderabad and Arrested on False Charges

06/07/09 India (All India Christian Council) - Hindu fanatics attacked a pastor and reported of arrest on the charges of distributing Christian literature. The local fact finding team of All India Christian Council met the concerned local police. The culprits were summoned to the police station and released pastor after compromising.

According to the source reaching to aicc told that the incident happened Saturday morning around 8.30 when Pastor David Raju from Hyderabad went for a Christian meeting invited by one of his churches in Mangalagiri in Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh. At his arrival a group numbering about 20 people allegedly belonging to Hindu fanatic groups, beaten Pastor David severely and latter the attackers informed local police with false charges of force conversion. He was taken into police custody until the fact finding team of aicc intervened and released at around 2.30 PM.

The fact finding team was led by Guntur district aicc leaders Mr. Timothy, Mr. Ravi Prakash, Mr. Boaz and other state leaders. With the help of the local Congress leaders, the matter was brought to the compromise and allowed pastor to carry his meeting in the church that invited him.

In last week, 20 Christian students were attacked by Hindu fanatics in Hanwada village of Mahaboobnagar district in Andhra Pradesh. The students went in two vehicle to distribute Christian literature in the village.

According to the sources reaching to aicc, the members of Hindu fanatic groups attacked the students while they were distributing Christian literature. One vehicle with few students managed to run away from the village when the fanatics attacked. The remaining one vehicle along with 13 students was handed over to local police station. The fanatics warned the students to stop any Christian propaganda and released latter from police custody.

The local aicc leaders feel that the Hindu fanatics kept on trying to turn Andhra Pradesh into Gujarat and Khandamal like situation by attacking on Christian minorities of the state. This state has been facing the attack on Christian minorities for last many years.
