All 16 Christians Released from Prison in Henan

ICC Note:

On April 30, 18 Christians were arrested in Henan by Public Security Bureau officials for gathering in a house church for communion services. Two of the believers were released after ChinaAid sent out a press release on the incident, but 16 were still in prison. Finally, after the prayers and efforts of many around the world, PSB officials released the remaining 16 prisoners on May 8th without completing their detention or paying their fines.

Even though the prisoners had not completed their sentences of 10-14 days in detention or paid their fines of 1,000 Yuan ($150 US), the officials did not require any other terms for their release. ChinaAid sources said the early release of the prisoners was due to pressure from the international community and meant that, “the government admits what they did was wrong.”
